Satomi Shikata - Cyberbutoh Sato
Born in Osaka Japan, Satomi Shikata (AKA, Sato) is an independent performing artist of dance, theater and music.
Sato's trained in acting at “Drama Horihoku Academy”, and trained in dance at “Watanabe Stage Center” and upon graduation joined the modern Dance Company “DIOS” where she toured Japan, China and US.
In 1993, Satomi moved to New York City and worked as a modern dancer with Igal Perry, Mark Dendy, Daniel Gwirtzman, Lynn Neuman. In recent years she has been studying silks, suspension and acrobatics to add to her performance repertoire. By combining principles of modern dance theory, acting, improvisation, suspension and classical Japanese traditions of dance, Satomi often performs under the stage name “Cyberbutoh” and continues as a dedicated performer and creator.
Satomi is an original cast member of “Kate’s Chink-o-Rama” with Comedy Star Kate Rigg, bringing original dance, sketch and choreography to the company which toured internationally from 2000-2004. Her other passions include: silk and trapeze aerialist performance and Argentine Tango.
